DIOPS 2022 Ended In A Display Of Vibrancy and Smart Eyewear Future

Daegu International Optical Fair 2022 (DIOPS) was successfully held from June 22 to 24. Professionals were thrilled to gather, do business and share in this incredible energy of optical industry. 138 exhibit brands were present. At the same time, more than 10,000 visitors were recorded. Buyers from 25 countries including the United States , Canada, Vietnam, Malaysia headed to Daegu to immerse themselves into this vibrant industry. Sales volume increased by 6-9% compared with last year, laying a solid foundation for the recovery of the Korean eyewear market.

DIOPS 2022 brought to visitors a very diverse range of activities, such as ophthalmology lectures, the 4th World Korea Optical Business Conference, 3D Printing Technology Seminar, 2022 Optical Development Innovation Development and Youth Employment Education Seminar, etc.

In the 4th World Korean Optical Business Conference, optical brands from the United States, Canada, Vietnam and the Philippines exchanged information and shared their views and opinions on the future of overseas markets. In addition, the conference also mentioned the hottest trend about smart glasses, in which Kai-Fu Lee, vice president of Microsoft Korea, used Microsoft smart glasses as an example to illustrate that glasses have developed from the previous optical equipment to the current or future digital smart devices, and the composite function and technology development of glasses has great potential.

Microoled, a French display and semiconductor equipment manufacturer, also took the launch of smart glasses in cooperation with French sports eyewear brand JULBO last year as an example to express the prospect of the Korean eyewear industry moving forward on the high-tech track in the future. These sharings have been well received by the audience. Will South Korea lead the smart glasses boom?

Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu City, said: “Through DIOPS 2022, both the domestic and export markets have begun to recover to pre-epidemic levels, and the Korean optical industry has continued to develop new technologies and launched new products. I hope that DIOPS will show to the world a rapid development of Korean optical industry.”
